MUMBAI: Sony Music Nashville has finally named a CEO and chairman- Randy Goodman, after the departure of former chairman and CEO- Gary Overton on 31 March 2015. Goodman took charge of his new responsibility from 8 July 2015. Based in Nashville, he will report to Sony Music Entertainment CEO Doug Morris.
He will be responsible for overseeing all of Sony Music Nashville’s operations which include Arista Nashville, Columbia Nashville and RCA Nashville. He will head Christian music company-Provident Music Group as well.
Commenting about the new role, 30-year old industry veteran Goodman said, “Having started my career at RCA Records Nashville, now a cornerstone of Sony Music, this is a homecoming for me, and I could not be happier or more honoured to be entrusted to lead this great group. And getting to work with an icon of the business, Doug Morris and his team, makes this opportunity all the more exciting. I am thankful to Doug for his belief in me and to Julie Swidler for her dedication and commitment to me and Nashville during this transition.” Goodman is also founding member of Lyric Street Records for the Walt Disney Co.

Goodman spent 16 years with RCA Records which is part of Sony Music Entertainment. He held various positions at the recording company like Nashville RCA Label Group EVP and GM, New York RCA SVP and marketing worldwide. Goodman has worked with talents like Waylon Jennings, Alabama, Dave Matthews Band, Martina McBride, Clint Black, Keith Whitley, and The Judds. During his tenure, as the president, he worked with Rascal Flatts, SHeDAISY, Aaron Tippin and Josh Gracin. Goodman has also co-chaired the Music City Music Council with Nashville Mayor Karl Dean since 2011 and is a board member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
