MUMBAI: Capitol Music Group (CMG) has appointed Scott Greer as the new executive vice president of the company. Greer will report to CMG chairman and CEO Steve Barnett.
He will be responsible for the company’s operations in New York and will be seen utilising his marketing expertise on key CMG artistes and projects. In his new position, he will manage the company’s group of labels, including Capitol, Virgin and Motown.
Greer said, “I am truly excited to be reuniting with Steve, who has been a mentor to me throughout my career, as well as returning to the company where I began my professional life in the early 90s. What Steve and his team have accomplished in such a short span of time is the talk of the industry and the artist community, and CMG’s revitalization is still only in its early stages. I look forward to contributing to the company’s growth and helping its impressive roster of new and established artistes’ success in the years to come.” As a senior member in the executive team, he will work along with CMG EVPs Michelle Jubelirer and Greg Thompson; and CFO Geoff Harris.

He began his career with Capitol Records in 1991 in the international department. Later, he joined Epic Records in 1996. Prior to joining CMG, Greer was with Sony Music for 18 years and his last designation at the label was as the SVP of marketing for Columbia Records.
