MUMBAI: Home grown electronic dance music showcase, Reset, is all set to come to Pune on 6 December at blueFROG. Pune will enjoy live electronica acts like Big City Harmonics and Sandunes, unlike other editions that were techno-focussed.
Audio Glitch and Color Ray are the winners of the contest run by Reset for their Pune gig and they will open the evening with their sets. Reset celebrates domestic talents, by bringing them together and giving them a platform to play their sets to fans in various cities. Reset will serve as a platform for upcoming talents as well to showcase their sounds. The music showcase has already travelled to Hyderabad and Bangalore on 1st and 15th November respectively and the next stop for Reset is Confluence Convention Centre, Chennai on 13th December. The showcase was conceptualised by artiste management agency UnMute and events management company Phoenix Live.
Talking about the challenges faced in developing the property, UnMute director and artist manager Dev Bhatia said, “Reset was our (UnMute) first foray into events outside clubs. We have worked with big festivals and curated tours but this was something we had never done before. Of course, putting anything (large) together focusing on Indian talent only was a tough sell in terms of sponsorship and support. Once we joined hands with our partners, Phoenix Live, it was much easier to take it forward.”

When quizzed if international acts have affected Indian artistes, Bhatia said that he “would not say it has not had much impact. We manage close to 25 Indian artistes and they are doing well, playing an average of two-four shows a month. Some of our artistes play over 100 shows a year.” International acts have in some way helped the Indian electronic dance music to evolve.
Currently, they plan to take Reset to other cities. Bhatia said, “Mumbai and Delhi are definitely on the cards. We are working on other cities.”
The first edition of Reset took place in Hyderabad on 22nd March earlier in the year, before the November-December edition started. Hyderabad was already covered twice this year. “The response has been nothing short of phenomenal. For example, after the first Reset in Hyderabad back in March, there has been a techno show every weekend in Hyderabad till date. We aim to do the same everywhere we go,” Bhatia said. By the end of this year, Reset would have showcased a total of 40 artistes. India’s techno DJ and producer and UnMute director, Arjun Vagale will come to India in December to play a series of gigs, and Pune will be one of his first appearances. Other DJs and producer who will play under the property are Kohra, Praveen Achary, BLOT!, DJ M Mat, DJ Jitter, Pawas, Ankytrixx, Oozeundat and Qwiver.
