MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi’s stranglehold over the top position in the metros weakened in week 30 with Big FM breaking the jinx in Bangalore. In the other metros however, Mirchi’s dominance refused to give in to the rivals.
Bangalore – Big FM surged 3.3 percentage points in the garden city to end with a market share of 19.2 per cent, leaving seven week leader Radio Mirchi licking its wounds with a share of 17 per cent, having lost 3.5 percentage points. Fever came in a distant third with a share of 15.2 per cent, having gained 0.4 percentage points. Radio City with a share of 11.5 per cent, was marginally ahead of AIR’s FM Rainbow station which held on with a share of 11.4 per cent.
Delhi – In the capital, Mirchi lost 0.9 percentage points, but held on to its strong leadership position with a share of 23.2 per cent, far ahead of Fever which gained 0.9 points, but stayed at second position with a share of 18.7 per cent. AIR’s FM Gold station proved itself a worthy third position with a share of 17.8 per cent of the market, having surged 2.7 percentage points. Radio City came in a poor fourth, with a share of 9.3 per cent of the market, having lost 1.3 percentage points. Red FM followed with a share of 8.3 per cent.

Kolkata – Big FM narrowed the gap between itself and leader Mirchi in Kolkata by surging one percentage point and ending with a share of 16.3 per cent. Mirchi continued to rule with a share of 19.2 per cent, despite losing 1.1 percentage points. Friends, that came in third, had a share of 13.3 per cent, having lost 0.4 percentage points during the week. Aamar too lost 0.6 points, and ended with a share of 10.2 per cent of the market.
Mumbai – Mirchi’s hold over Mumbai stayed fast with the station gaining 1.4 points, to end with a share of 18.2 per cent. Red FM too gained 0.2 per cent, and ended at second position with a share of 14.7 per cent. AIR’s FM Gold came in a close third with a share of 13.8 per cent, having climbed 0.3 points during the week. Big FM followed with a share of 12.2 per cent.
