MUMBAI: While Radio Mirchi may continue to hold sway in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata while Big FM strengthens itself in Bangalore, the poor man’s radio station is quietly making its presence felt in the RAM charts, week after week.
All India Radio’s FM Gold station has strengthened its position in both Mumbai and Delhi, securing the third place in both metros, ahead of other much marketed private FM stations. In Bangalore, AIR’s Rainbow station holds its own at fourth place, but in Kolkata both the AIR FM stations just make it into the top 10 station list, according to RAM figures for week 37.
Bangalore: Big FM consolidated its position in Bangalore in week 37, gaining 0.2 percentage points, ending the week with a share of 18.3 per cent, while Mirchi lost 0.7 points to end at second position with a share of 16.7 per cent. Fever was a close third with a share of 16.4 per cent, having gained 1.4 points during the week. AIR’s FM Rainbow stayed ahead of rivals Radio City, Radio One and Red FM with a share of 11.6 per cent, having lost 0.2 points during the week.

Delhi: Mirchi kept its lead but lost 1.2 points to end with a share of 23.5 per cent in the capital. Fever kept snapping at Mirchi’s heels despite losing 0.1 points, ending with a share of 21.9 per cent. AIR’s FM Gold station, a distant third, gained 1.6 points during the week, to end with a share of 16.4 per cent. Red FM lagged a poor fourth with a share of 8.3 per cent, despite having gained 0.3 percentage points and Radio City followed with a share of 7.7 per cent.
Kolkata: Mirchi came close to giving up its lead position to Big FM in Kolkata, slipping 0.8 points during the week and ending with a share of 19.2 per cent. Big FM gained 1.5 points, ending the week with a market share of 17.7 per cent. Friends stayed at third place but gained 0.3 points to end the week with a share of 14 per cent.
Mumbai: Mirchi widened the gap between itself and Red FM by gaining 1.1 points during the week and ending the week with a share of 18.8 per cent. Red on the other hand, lost 0.9 points to end the week with a share of 14.3 per cent. AIR’s FM Gold station gained 1.2 points and ended the week with a share of 13.7, coming a close third and staying ahead of Fever, which gained 0.3 points but ended with a share of 12.3 per cent. Radio City followed close behind with a share of 12 per cent, having gained 0.1 percentage points during the week. Big FM, Radio One and AIR’s FM Rainbow followed.
