MUMBAI: India’s No. 1 Radio Station Network BIG 92.7 FM has joined hands with leading FMCG player Parle G to host an on air radio marathon – to save the environment! The RJ Marathon will be hosted across 44 Stations of the expansive network for an environmental cause, each city taking up a locally relevant issue. Aptly titled BIG Parle G – for Green, G for Genius, the marathon will see the jocks munching on Parle G biscuits that are known for their health and energy benefits. The marathon will kick off across the BIG FM Stations on October 2nd at 6:45am and will go on till such time as the city does not sms 9270 messages in support of the cause.
This activity in association with Parle G is an attempt to raise social awareness over local environmental issues. Issues ranging from water conservation to power saving, air pollution, increasing city greenery etc. RJ’s will take up the cause on air and keep jockeying until such time as the message count doesn’t touch 9270. Each day Parle G will share the Genius 5 ways to save the environment on each of the initiatives taken up. These will be really simple ways which the common man, if follows will most certainly contribute to the environment e.g. bathe using water from the bucket instead of the shower, switch off the lights when u leave the room, plant trees etc.
BIG FM’s constant endeavour in providing entertainment of significance and using the radio platform meaningfully has led to yet another radio innovation. Hosted for the 3rd year in a row, the RJ Marathon was taken to a different height, when RJ Dheena from BIG FM Chennai broke the record of hosting 168 hours of RJing non stop – making it to the Guinness Book of World Records. This year too, the Station’s are leaving no stone un-turned as they put together a holistic offering of on air and on ground promotions around the marathon to ensure highest listener participation, not just by tuning in, but by sending in their sms in support of the cause. Through this initative the radio station is awakening a sense of awareness and responsibility in the local populace. Small steps in everyday life make the BIG Difference!
