Around 2003 the capital witnessed a surge of metal bands. They dominated the Indian rock scene, sweeping every contest and show that there was. Notable amongst them was hardcore metal act Acrid Semblance. Rock Street Journal described their music as a â€?melodic maelstrom’ as is apparent from their myspace page that features songs from their maiden offering Soul Corrosion. Their music with a vicious guitar attack and keyboard flourishes that give it the melodic aspects have seen their fanbase grow steadily since they started.
Having played at some of India’s most prestigious rock festivals (Great Indian Rock in 2005 and 2006) they shared the stage with Freak Kitchen one of Sweden’s premier metal acts. Acrid Semblance were remembered for cutting edge performances in both the editions. With the follow up to their 2006 debut album â€?From the Oblivion’ expected soon, Acrid are about to cement themselves in the psyche of the Indian metal scene rather firmly.
