MUMBAI: National Award-winning Singer Shashaa Tirupati who’s extensively working on her independent music collaborates with singer Papon for their original song ‘Siyaahii’.
‘Siyaahii’ is a romantic track which talks about the permanent effect of certain people in your life, who end up getting inked to your heart. We’re all a little damaged. It’s about fixing scars with another permanent mark that someone leaves on you for life, but through care, sacrifice, healing and affection.

Siyaahii has kind of become an International Project now. “It’s partially been shot in Vancouver, Canada, partially in Assam, where Papon is currently. My Asian friend Raymond has shot the video and the talented Samir Maharjan has worked on the cover artwork from Kathmandu, Sid is from Mumbai”, says Shashaa Tirupati.
“I’d like to throw in a very special mention to Mayur Puri for guiding me with my Urdu, without preaching, being the perfect teacher too, the hit machine of a lyricist that he already is!”, she adds.
Based in Mumbai and Vancouver, Shashaa says, “Siyaahii is a baby that’s been nurtured with a lot of affection, patience and care. I have composed, written the song and sung on it alongside one of my favourite voices in the country, Papon.” Her friend Sid Paul with whom she has done many collaborations, features as a Music Producer on this track. Sid takes the song into a very British pop zone, something that we haven’t heard in a while.
Shashaa has a string of previous independent song releases like Oceans Rained and String of Air in English, Beparwahi and Hum Kahan Hai in Hindi and a bilingual song in collaboration with Chinmayi Sripada.
The original independent song is been released and is available on all audio streaming platforms. The video is live on Papon’s official Youtube channel.
