MUMBAI: After registering high TRP ratings through televised music series Idea Jalsa’s first season, Art and Artistes Management are now preparing for the second season – shooting for which is near completion
One of the new additions in the second season of the live concert series is the introduction of talent hunt, says Art and Artistes co-founder Vikram Shankar, The last four episodes will feature a talent hunt where participant’s coming from Classical, Sufi, Folk, Bhajans, Qawwali or Ghazal backgrounds will be auditioned throughout India…. The judges for the talent hunt are yet to be decided, however, eminent musicians like Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Anup Jalota, Pt. Jasraj and Hariharan are likely to do the honours said Shankar.
Altogether, Jalsa season II will air twenty six episodes featuring a mix of budding classical musicians like Pravin Godkhind (flute) Jayteerth Mevundi (vocal) Debhashish Bhattacharya (slide guitar) Aarti Anklikar (vocal) to name a few and maestros’ like Dr. Balamurlikrishna, Gundecha Brothers, Kishori Amonkar, Pt. Rajan & Pt. Sajan Mishra, U. Srinivas and Anup Jalota

Idea Jalsa’s first season was aired on Doordarshan this January to start with. The same show was re-telecast on DD’s regional arm Sahyadri, which again registered soaring views. We now plan to air our content on regional channels in Bengal, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat,… says Shankar. Having garnered enough interest so far, Shankar thinks even satellite TV may take the cue.
