MUMBAI: Pop singer Shalmali has released her first English single, which also happens to be the first single she has written and composed during the lockdown period.
The song is titled “Regular”, and the process of writing and composing the first draft spanned over a few days, after which Sunny MR was roped in as the music producer.
Talking about the single, Shalmali said: “Ever since I got into music, I have been keen on writing and composing my own songs. I wrote ‘Regular’ from start to finish in the lockdown so it felt like the right first song to release. The songwriting phase spanned over two odd days and then I forgot about the song for a while. Sometimes I revisit the songs sitting on my computer, (that’s) when I realised I need to take ‘Regular’ ahead to Sunny to produce and release it.”

I’ve unknowingly sought inspiration from artistes like Amel Larrieuux, Anderson .Paak, Solange, and Beyonce — who pop into the soundscape of the track ever so often. Needless to say, my new single ‘Regular’ looks a lot different from my other regulars. So, I am excited to share this new English single with the world,” she added.
Earlier this year, Shalmali released “Kalle kalle”, which celebrates women who are single, fierce and fun. The single talks about being unapologetically independent and living life with no boundaries.
