MUMBAI: The word versatility is coined for Sunidhi Chauhan. Romantic, peppy, seductive, sad or happy, Sunidhi has aced all of it with immense aplomb. We have experienced her virtuosity in recorded songs but her live performance on Friday was nothing short of phenomenal. Performing to a packed to the hilt Shanmukhanada Hall in Central Mumbai, Sunidhi touched the heart of every member of the audience. The show was curated by Art & Artists organisation.
The singer began her show with Shut up And Bounce from Dostana and the entire audience did that. She then continued her playlist with one chartbuster after another. What kept the audience engaged was her sheer ability to move from one emotion to the next with immense ease. From getting once more for Halka Halka Suroor to urging every female in the audience to get up and do the signature step of Desi Girl, her energy didn’t drop even for a nanosecond. The audience age group ranged from children to old people, but the pulsating energy was palpable in the audience.
Sunidhi also included a couple of iconic songs like Pehla Nasha from Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander which she hasn’t sung herself. The penultimate of the show was a medley of songs sung by her and in her own words, “songs that made me who I am” and dedicated it to her father, who was present in the audience. The medley included one of her very first songs, the title track from Mast, featuring Urmila Matondkar and Aftab Shivdasani to Aa Zara from Murder 2 to Deedar De from Dus. The concluding song was Beedi Jalaile from Omkara, which got uproarious applause, once more.
Sunidhi’s show proved that there is something special about live shows, which can’t be experienced in recorded tracks. A special mention for her rocking team of musicians and technicians, who made this show such a stellar one. As far as Sunidhi is concerned, she proved yet again that she is a package of talent and glamour. This performance of the Diva will be remembered for a long time.
