MUMBAI: Composer duo Sajid Wajid have flagged off 2009 with the recently released score for Vashu Bhagnani’s Kal Kissne Dekha. The two now have a number of projects lined up for the year ahead – Dhoondte Reh Jaoge directed by Umesh Shukla which releases on 6 March and Salman Khan starrers – Wanted – Dead or alive and Veer.
The two are excited about the release of the music they have composed for Vashu Bhagnani’s new movie Kal Kissne Dekha… scheduled for an April release.
The film’s music was released at the Filmfare Awards held on Saturday evening in Mumbai and Bhagnani’s son Jackky who plays the lead in the film performed to the music on the occasion.
Sajid-Wajid, brothers in real life, hit a high note last year with the title song of Akshay Kumar starrer film Welcome and their hit songs in Salman Khan starrer Partner.
Sajid says that he and brother Wajid worked very hard on the music of Kal Kissne Dekha and composed it to suit Jackky’s personality and incorporate a perfectly suited melody for him. He says that when they worked on Salman Khan-Govinda starrer Partner, the movie already had two big stars to its credit so they composed the music to suit the movie and the characters in the movie but with the music of Kal Kissne Dekha they felt that it should promote newcomer Jackky in the right light, and so they incorporated his personality into the music.
Speaking on the music for Kal Kissne Dekha, Sajid says that they have adapted the compositions to today’s age and culture, blending an older type of melody with today’s new and fresh music arrangement.
The album boasts vocals of top notch singers such as Shaan, Shreya Ghosal, Sonu Niiagam and Bombay Vikings. Wajid too has doubled as playback singer for one of the songs in the album.
Sajid-Wajid were born into a musically inclined family with their father Ustad Sharafat Khan being a talented tabla player and grandfather Ustad Abdul Latif honoured with the Padma Shri by the Indian Government.
They have delivered multiple hits in films movies such as Partner, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Tere Naam, Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam, Tumko Na Bhool Payenge, Hello Brother and Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya and Welcome. On the Indi – pop circuit, they have collaborated with Alka Yagnik, Babul Supriyo and also Mehmood, an Egyptian singer.
