MUMBAI: After ‘Bombay Velvet’ and ‘Guddu Rangeela’, singer and composer, Amit Trivedi, is back to making music with the Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Shaandaar’. The musician, who recently took a short break to rejuvenate himself, explained that his approach for the soon-to-release film was different from his other film projects.
“I could not repeat what I had done with my previous films like ‘Queen’ or ‘Dev D’ as the film this time is about a destination wedding. So the album had to be completely peppy. Also, the film has elements of romance, which is why included one love song,” said Trivedi.
When asked if composing for Shaandaar, was in any way, affected after some recent projects failed to connect with audiences, he explained, “Not at all. We belong to a creative field. This is typical in any creative work. Some click, some do. We have to move on.” Having worked with director Vikas Bahl previously for the films like ‘Queen’, ‘Lootera’, ‘Chillar Party’ and others, he said that the duo share an amazing rapport and are very comfortable working with each other.

The album of ‘Shaandaar’ comprises five songs, and Trivedi’s favorite track is the film’s title track. “I like this song because it is a party number and it also has elements of EDM. Personally, I love EDM and I do listen to it quite often. We tried quite a few singers for the track, but we could not get the feel that was required. So Vikas suggested I should sing it, and fortunately we got the desired results,” he revealed. The singer also revealed that ‘Gulaabo’ was another track for which they tried different singers, but finally settled on Anusha Mani as its vocalist.
Trivedi has also done the background score for the film, which he completed in a month, and said that he has been fortunate to work with people who pay just as much attention to the background score as to the music of the film. “None of the people that I have worked with so far have forced me to complete the background music in a short span of time. I believe that the background score plays a vital role in the film as it can make or break it,” he added.
‘Shaandaar’ is set to release on 22 October, 2015.
