MUMBAI: The show ‘Stories by Rabindranath Tagore’ on Epic TV features famous stories written by Tagore in episodic format. The first episode ‘Chokher Bali’ featured theatre and Bollywood actress Radhika Apte as the protagonist, while playback singer Arijit Singh sang ‘Medha Jha Amaro Porano’ for the episode. ‘Jiya Re’ singer, Neeti Mohan, will be next to render vocals for the show’s upcoming episode.
Mohan, who has given her voice to the title tracks of ‘Dil Dosti Dance’ and ‘Nach Baliye’, has sung two songs for the next story of the episode titled ‘Broken Nest’. This particular episode features ‘Kai Po Che!’ and ‘Aisha’ actor Amrita Puri.
Confirming the same Mohan said, “This is the first time that I’ve sung Rabindra Sangeet, but my songs will have a different style to them. I have heard a lot of Rabindra Sangeet so I know that they are sweet and melodious but my version of these songs will be in Sufi style.”

She added that Tani Basu, -Anurag Basu’s wife and director of this story- wanted the songs to be that way as the lead of the story (Puri) is extremely bold and outgoing.
Mohan’s episode will air on 3rd August 2015. The series is being directed by ‘Life In a … Metro’ and ‘Barfi’ director, Anurag Basu.
The show, which is an adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s novel by the same name, premiered on 6th July 2015. It has so far showcased some of Tagore’s masterpiece stories like ‘Chokher Bali’, ‘Atithi’, ‘Maanbhanjan’ and ‘Detective’. The show is telecast at 10 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.
‘Stories by Rabindranath Tagore’ is based in the early twentieth century of the undivided Bengal. They are set in a politically volatile period in Calcutta where the protagonists pour in from their diverse rural, social and cultural backgrounds to encourage an upcoming new world. Tagore, the most articulate feminist of his times, saw his women as intelligent, adventurous, chance takers and almost always resisting the family and the social establishment. Unlike ordinary characters, these personalities pack a rebellious punch. They break the traditional paths and root themselves into our hopeful hearts.
