The sequel to ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ is back. Directed by Anand Rai, the film is one of the most anticipated this year. Everything about the latest installment remains the same including the star cast, composers and the lyricist. Like the last time the music is composed by Krsna Solo and lyrics are penned by Raj Shekhar. Meanwhile, music composer duo Tanishk Vayu, make their Bollywood debut with one song for the album, which comprises eight songs.
Banno
The first track from the film to be released, ‘Banno’ is composed by Tanushk Vayu. It is a typical ‘shaadi’ track that will definitely make you put on your dancing shoes. While the beats of the dhool add to the peppiness of the song, vocals by BrijeshShandllya and Swati Sharma go perfectly with the concept and overall sound of the track.
Move On
A fast-paced track for a heartbreak situation; how often does that happen? Krsna Solo, leaves behind the typical ‘rona dhona’ slow music song, and instead creates one that urges the protagonist to move on. As far as the vocals are concerned, Sundhi Chauhan does complete justice to the music. Overall, a good song.
Mat Ja Re
Sung by ‘Sun Raha Hai Na Tu’ singer Ankit Tiwari, the track is not like his usual songs. Tiwari gives ‘Mat Ja Re’, which is a melancholic number, a different touch by adding ‘Bhojpuri’ elements to the music. The track is average, but Tiwari should consider singing for other composers more often.
Ghani Bawri
Jyoti Nooran’s rustic vocals amalgamate with the fast paced music and Haryanavi lyrics, which lead to a foot tapping number. Nooran adds a folkish touch to the song, which has strong instrumentation. The track is good and if promoted well, it could work pretty well.
Old School Girl
The jazzy number, sung by ‘Nagin Nagin’ singer- Anmol Mallik, has an earthy feeling and is a pleasant surprise on the album. ‘Old School Girl’ has English lyrics and is sung very well. The slow paced track by Mallik is rather enjoyable and is certainly one to look out for.
Ho Gaya Hai Pyar
The song starts with the soothing voice of Dev Negi and is probably the second best track on the album. The moment you hear this song, you fall in love not only with the vocals but also with the lyrics. The song grows on you, and is one track that you can listen to on loop.
O Saathi Mere
Perhaps the best song on the album, ‘O Saathi Mere’ is crooned by Sonu Nigam. As usual, the ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ singer manages to cast a spell with his voice. To top it up, Krsna’s soothing composition and deep lyrics by Raj Shekhar, add to the beauty of the song. Kudos to them all.
The album also has remixes of ‘Old School Girl’ sung by Kalpana Gandharv and ‘Ghani Bawri’. Overall the album is good and stands tall to the expectations of ‘Tanu Weds Manu’. Only time will tell if the film, which releases on 22 May, 2015 will also garner positive responses.
