MUMBAI: British Phonographic Industry and Music Publishers Association are on a trade mission to Toronto for the first-time. This trip will help music industries from both sides to connect during the Canadian Music Week, as the mission is associated with the conference.
The mission will offer participants an opportunity to connect with the North American music business as a whole, during 33rd annual Canadian Music Week. It will help participants get a wider idea about the North American music market as there will be panel discussions and presentations. The conference will have speakers from across the industry, including publishers, labels, distribution (physical and digital), licensing, retail, live and marketing. The mission will take place on 6 May 2015 and registrants will get to attend three day conference Canadian Music Week for free.
BPI Director of International, Chris Tams said, “The Canadian market offers huge potential for British music – one in seven of all artist albums bought in the country are by UK acts. There is a hunger for British music across the Atlantic, be that in the charts or in filling live music venues. It’s great to be able to offer BPI members an affiliation with Canadian Music Week and we look forward to striking up lasting partnerships with businesses in the North American market.”

In the past, BPI has gone on oversees missions in other associations to Los Angeles, New York, Germany, France, India, Poland and Japan.
