MUMBAI: Radio City has recently launched a Bollywood music-based quiz contest, titled â€?Music Ka PH.D’. The show begins from 8 September on â€?Whatte Fun Mornings’ (7 – 11 am), the contest will last for a month Mumbai RJs Harssh and Archana and Bengaluru’s RJs Kiran and Varsha will test the music gyaan of its listeners in these cities.
The contest will honour the most deserving musical guru of the city with musical PhD.The winner of the contest will win an International Holiday along with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000. The runner- up will win a holiday to an exotic Indian destination.
Listeners can participate in the contest can participate by SMSing to the announced number or register online on www.planetradiocity.com. 16 lucky listeners will get to participate in the qualifying round from September 8-18, by responding to one simple music based question posed by the station. The RJs will shortlist two very consistent players and throw five questions within the time span of 40 seconds. The contestant with the most number of correct answers will be declared the semi-finalist for the day. Rewarding the listener’s musical knowledge, the contest offers Rs 1000 in cash for every question which gets passed onto those listening in.

From September 22-25, the eight semi-finalists will compete with one another to make it into the final four as the questions get progressively complex. The contest integrates a wide array of Bollywood themes. These semi-finalists get to address questions based on popular Bollywood duos, era based questions, questions based on item numbers, sequels and remakes, remixes, debut films among several other themes. The grande finale on October 1 will witness the top two contenders fight it out to win the contest by responding to some of the toughest music-based trivia questions.
