MUMBAI: A Mumbai city civil court has passed an interim relief order in favour of Vishesh Films (VS), directing Super Cassettes Industries Ltd (T-Series) not to claim the copyrights of audio/visuals of songs of its forthcoming film ‘Jannat’, set to release this year.
The final order on the ongoing dispute between VF and T-Series regarding the music rights of Vishesh Films’under production flick ‘Jannat’will be given on 25 January 2008.
Sources say that a ‘letter of intent’had been signed between the music company and the production house in 2006, according to which T Series would be given the music rights of two films produced by Vishesh Films. T Series took the music rights of one film produced by the Vishesh Films camp as per the letter but, did not opt to exercise the claim for any other films during this period and chose to opt for Jannat directly.
Vishesh Films, which filed a suit in the city civil court recently, issued a public notice in film trade magazines alleging that T-Series is wrongly claiming the music rights of Jannat and is trying to malign Vishesh Films’reputation indulging in such malafide behaviour for the sole purpose of causing loss of business and damage to Vishesh Films.

The court consequently passed an order in favour of Vishesh Films, granting interim relief.
When contacted, T-Series CEO Mukesh Desai refused to comment saying the matter is sub judice.
