MUMBAI: Following the trend of Bollywood composers moving to regional spaces, Sachin Jigar are all set to make their debut in Gujarati, with the film ‘Bey Yaar’. Directed by ‘OMG-Oh My God!’ writer Abhishek Jain, the film is set for release on 29 August 2014. The music composer duo has composed for tracks for the film.
Talking about why the duo composed songs for a Gujarati film Sachin Sanghvi said, “Jigar and I are Gujaratis and we were always saddened by the fact that the genre itself is not explored enough. We wish to be perspective changers and want to convey the message that Gujarati music is just not limited to ‘garba’ but definitely more than that. Thus we have experimented a lot with the music.”
The partnership between the duo and director Abhishek Jain happened after his Gujarati film ‘Kevi Rete Jais’ was a major blockbuster. “The best thing about the director was that he did not brief us about the kind of music that we had to make. We were given complete freedom of doing whatever we wished to. All he told us about was the emotion that needs to go into a particular situation,” said Sanghvi.

The duo has experimented with the music and has avoided conventional methods of composition. “We have tried to retain the folk element but have experimented with the arrangements. I cannot name the genre, but there are elements of funk, techno trance and trance-fusion,” he elaborated. Initially they had made six tracks for the film, but could only release four. The songs do not have the slightest tinge of Bollywood and Sanghvi is completely happy with the same.
As an artiste Sanghvi wishes to cater to all his audiences and has no plans to concentrate on a specific genre. “I am not anywhere away from Bollywood, because I have my set of audiences, but at the same point in time I wish to push myself because that is what creativity is all about. When AR Rahman sir can pan the main vocal to the left in the song ‘Piya Haji Ali’ from the film ‘Fiza’ at the risk of a listener, I too am willing to take all the risks possible.”
