MUMBAI: Renowned Pakistani classical singer, Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, lent his voice for a Bollywood film, ‘Kya Dilli Kya Lahore’. With this project the 61 year old has made his debut in tinsel town.
Khan recorded an emotional track ‘Kaleje mein lag jaati toh kya hota’ for Vijay Raaz’s directorial debut film. The film deals with the theme of the Indo Pak partition. The lyrics of the same have been penned by Gulzar and the music is composed by Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum composer, Sandesh Shandilya.
According to reports, Shandilya and Ustad Hamid Ali Khan met at an event in Amritsar. No sooner did the composer asked the latter to record a song for the film, than he immediately agreed and was happy to know about Gulzar’s association with the project.

“It turns out that both of them share a very good equation. Soon after, he came down to Mumbai for two days and recorded the song, ‘Kaleje mein lag jaati toh kya hota’. It is an emotional song that advocates putting humanity above border scuffles,” said Shandilya to a newspaper.
Hamid belongs to Patiala gharana and is the son of Ustad Akhtar Hussein Khan and the youngest brother of singers, Bade Fateh Ali Khan and Amanat Ali Khan. The ‘Dildaara’ hit maker Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan has also been roped in for other songs.
The film is slated to release on 2 May 2014.
