MUMBAI: The music of Bobby Deol and Priyanka Chopra starrer Chamku was launched on Monday in Mumbai amid much fanfare.
Chamku is an action-crime flick made under the banner of Vijeta Films. The music for the film has been scored by Monty Sharma, and veteran lyricist Sameer has penned the lyrics. Chamku’s director Kabeer Kaushik had earlier directed an Arshad Warsi starrer action flick Sehar in 2005, which failed to click with the audience. This is Kabeer’s second film after Sehar.
As far as the music goes, after the phenomenal success of Sawaariya, expectations from music director Monty Sharma are high. For this out and out action film, Sharma has used a unique approach. He says, “Action films mostly have music which is fast and peppy. However, for this film, I have used soothing music for emotionally charged sequences; this completely contrasts the usual trend that music directors have been following.”

The album begins with ‘Aaja Milke’, a romantic song sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Shail. Besides, the album also includes numbers ‘Kithe Jawan’ by Richa Sharma, ‘Gola Gola’ by Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Vaishali Samant, ‘Trance’ by Saleem Shahzada, Soumya Raoh and Anaida, ‘Bin Daseyaa’ by Richa Sharma and ‘Dukh ke Badri’ by Kalpana, Parthiv Goel and Shael.
Commenting on the occasion, T-Series head Bhushan Kumar said, “Chamku is an exceptional film and with the promos on air, there is already a buzz around the music of the film. Monty Sharma has come up with a great sound track and we are sure the numbers will be a hit with listeners.”
The music of Chamku is being marketed and distributed by T-Series. The company’s forthcoming production include the much hyped Himesh Reshammiya Starrer ‘Karzzzz’ directed by Satish Kaushik and ‘A New Love Ishtory’ directed by John Mathew Matthan, again starring Himesh. The company has also recently tied up with Percept Picture Company for a five-flim deal and has acquired the music rights of 14 movies to be produced by UTV Motion Pictures for a whopping Rs 27.5 crore (Rs 2.75 billion).
It would be interesting to see if the music of the movie will be able to build a tempo before the film’s August 22 world wide release.
