MUMBAI: 94.3 MY FM Ahmedabad has yet again proved that radio can be efficiently moulded to become a tool of personal assistance and carrier of peace in the moments of crisis. During the Ahmedabad blasts on 26th July and its aftermath which left almost 50 people dead and hundreds maimed for life MY FM successfully played the role of soothsayer and peacemaker. While the mega city was in the grip of fear, anxiety and rumours on that fateful day,MY FM’s Ahmedabad station started playing appeals to maintain peace and communal harmony.
As the injured were wheeled into the hospitals MY FM started broadcasting appeals for blood donation and other voluntary services. It also toned down the music in consonance with the mood of the moment. MY FM was busy soothing people’s psyche by disseminating updated information and connecting the harried relatives and friends.
As soon as the news of blasts reached the corridors of MY FM the entire team galvanized itself in evolving ways and means to soothe the listeners and started connecting them with their near and dear ones by broadcasting their appeals for help and welfare. Thus MY FM proved to its listeners that radio is not only for entertainment but indeed a friend in need.
MY FM continued the trend even the next day and the radio station successfully connected people not only locally but through its entire network of 17 stations in 7 states.
Commending on the role played by 94.3 MY FM the COO Synergy Media Entertainment Ltd. Mr. Harrish M. Bhatia said, ” Radio being a mass media has certain social obligations and MY FM has yet again proved its commitment to its listeners and the society at large. It is one of the most significant acts of CSR ever carried out by a radio station. With its imagination and efficiency MY FM Ahmedabad has again proved the power and reach of radio in connecting people in the moments of crisis. MY FM had also helped crisis ridden people during the Jaipur blasts.”
