MUMBAI: ‘Born This Way’ pop star Lady Gaga has topped Forbes Most Powerful Musicians list in the world this year.
Forbes said Gaga’s earnings between 1 June 2012 – 2013 touched $80 million and could have earned over $30 million more had she been able to finish her ‘Born This Way Ball’ tour.
The pop singer’s ‘Born This Way World Tour’ earned a total of $168 million even though it was cut short due to a hip injury. She is a prolific social media user and communicates daily with her 38.5 million Twitter fans and 57.9 million Facebook fans,
‘Mother Monster’ as Gaga is known to her fans aka ‘Little Monsters’ is expected to release her hugely anticipated new album ‘Artpop’ in 2013. Gaga has taken the services of some of the industry’s hippest electro-dance talents Zedd, DJ White Shadow, Dallas Austin, and Madeon as producers for Artpop which will follow 2011’s smash ‘Born This Way’.
Beyoncé follows Gaga whom Forbes said grosses $2 million in every city she plays, on top of her lucrative deals with Pepsi and H&M.
Madonna and Taylor Swift follow at Numbers Three and Four, respectively, with rock icon Bon Jovi being the lone male at the Top Five. Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Coldplay and Katy Perry round out the Top 10.
On the celebrity list however, Gaga could not match talk show diva Oprah Winfrey who made $77 million over the same span, but still has a more dominating presence based on their ranking system. Beyonce too ranked lower in the celeb list at No 4.
