MUMBAI: EMI Music has appointed Cory Ondrejka, the mastermind behind Linden Lab’s virtual world – Second Life, as the senior vice president of their digital strategy.
EMI owner Guy Hands wants his latest hire will pay dividends and also convince consumers to start paying for music again. This will drive innovation around new revenue opportunities for the music label and build a world-class engineering team for the company.
In his new role Ondrejka will build the digital strategy for the company. Ondrejka spoke about his new appointment, “EMI presented me with a rare opportunity to influence the digital music industry. That helped artists reach their fans in more relevant ways and by allowing fans to find and acquire music through new business models. The technology is available to make the music experience better. I intend to apply it and to find new ways to drive innovation.”He will be based at EMI Music’s Los Angeles headquarters and will report to EMI Music digital president Douglas Merrill.
