MUMBAI: Popular singer Demi Lovato is all geared up to return as a judge for the second year, on the third season of the TV reality show ‘X Factor’.
The actress and singer joined the panel of Simon Cowell’s show last year and has now confirmed that she will be sitting alongside him again when the singing contest returns.
The announcement was made by the show’s broadcaster Fox, which also mentioned that there were two positions on the jury panel. The singer-songwriter will be back alongside series creator Simon Cowell when the singing competition begins its third season. Along with Britney Spears, Lovato was a new addition to the competition series last season.
Cowell said in a statement, “I couldn’t be happier that Lovato wants to come back this year. She is a superstar in her own right and was a fantastic mentor last year. Even though she can be really annoying, I truly enjoyed working with her and so did the artists.”
The producers are yet to announce replacements for departing judges Britney Spears and record producer Antonio ‘L A’ Reid, who quit at the end of the show’s second season in December
“I am so excited to return as a judge and mentor on ‘The X Factor,'” added Lovato in a statement. “Last season was an unbelievable experience and I really enjoyed developing personal relationships with the contestants and the panel. I look forward to taking my previous experience and applying it to make this season even better!”
As per agency reports, the show is slated to have four jury members.
However, the names of the other two judges are undisclosed. Recent speculations on possible new judges for the US version of the show included singers Katy Perry, John Mayer, Pink and Ne-Yo amongst others.
Meanwhile, the reality show has commenced its open auditions for singers in cities across the US. The judges audition round is expected to start in late May or early June.
