MUMBAI: Robby Towns, founder of the NestaMusic consultancy, has been named community manager of digitalmusic.org, the digital arm of music business trade group NARM.

Towns, 34, is a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Music Business from New York University (NYU). He got his start in the Advisory Services practice of KPMG, where he managed multi-million dollar engagements for a diverse portfolio of private and publicly held clients.
With an enriched experience, Towns has worked as publishing information researcher at The Orchard, marketing assistant at Audible Treats, and market research analyst at Columbia Records. Towns founded NestaMusic in 2010, a consultancy focusing on strategy, research, and new media initiatives in the music industry.
He has also served as a strategic advisor on EDM culture, trends, and talent for a major record label, where he distributed a monthly newsletter to the A&R department and label executives. In 2011, he was named one of the top 140 music industry characters you need to follow on Twitter by Billboard, and he has served as a US delegate to Eurosonic Noorderslag for the past two years.
