MUMBAI: History channel will be airing the second edition of its musical series ‘History Rocks’ starting 5 June in India. The new 17 part edition of ‘History Rocks’ promises to bring together great concerts, rare documentaries and interviews featuring ‘Gods of Music’ and offer a glimpse into the life of rock legends. The series will be broadcast Thursdays starting 9.00 pm with a repeat 11.00 pm on Saturdays.
This year’s ‘History Rocks’ includes classic albums of bands from the 1980’s such as Metallica (Black);U2 (The Joshua Tree); Pink Floyd (Dark side of the moon);J imi Hendrix (Electric Ladyland), etc., among others.History channel has roped in last year’s partner Lee this year too. An official release quoting Lee India business head Chakor Jain as saying, “Music has always been an important part of Lee’s history. The icons of fashion in cinema and music have always represented Lee. Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Bruce Springsteen are a few cult figures who loved and have lived in their pair of Lee.”
Broadcast rights for the series have been acquired from Eagle Vision according to History Channel officials.
Some of the other advertisers on ‘History Rocks’ include Brylcream, JBL, TVS Apache, Orbit, Baccardi, Airtel, etc. Rave is the media partner and Fever 104 the radio partner. As a part of the BTL activities, History channel arranged for live performances by well-known rock bands in Delhi (Parikrama) and Bangalore (Galeej Gurus).
The channel plans to promote the series on the print, electronic, radio and internet. Officials claim that its micro-site for last year’s edition of ‘History Rocks’ attracted about one and a half million hits during a one month period.
History has also been running other BTL activities such as quiz contests in Delhi and Mumbai where 100 teams of two persons participated.
