MUMBAI: Big FM has announced the winners of Big Singara singer contest of Chennai on June 21. Daphne Kumaraswamy and R Srinivasan won the contest on World Music Day.
Winners will get a chance to strike chords with music director Vijay Anthony’s forthcoming movie. Winners were announced in the presence of music director Vijay Anthony, playback singers Sangeetha and Mahathi.
Speaking about the initiative Big FM, Cluster Head, Tamilnadu, P.B Ramaswamy, said “There is a plenty of talent hidden in every Tamilian and this is part of our station, to endeavour to live the Tamilian Pride in everyday offerings. Through this initative we have provided the talented with a platform to be recognized. We are thankful to Vijay Anthony who has accepted to feature the winners of the contest as playback singers in his forthcoming movie.” Big Singaara contest was an initiative to identify and gratify Tamil talent from the streets of Chennai. Contestants were short listed for the final round after on-air preliminary rounds and on-ground semi-finals.
