MUMBAI: Himani Kapoor who was reportedly furious on the singing reality series SaReGaMaPa for non-payment of her remuneration has taken the matter in the court. Kapoor – the third runner up of SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005 season has claimed that the producers owe her more than Rs 20 mn.
The producers who were in a dilemma due to the standstill of the show had contacted the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) members for a discussion but seems like they have failed to come up with a concrete solution, as the case has been landed up in court for mutual understanding.
Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) general secretary Dinesh Chaturvedi said, “ The meeting was held with the producers earlier this week, but there is not much to say on the issue as the whole matter has now been taken to the court and we are just waiting for some mutual solution to the matter.
Earlier with the help of Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE), Kapoor had halted the shooting of SaReGaMaPa latest edition for few hours. The federation also issued a non-cooperation diktat to the producers of the show because of non-payment of remuneration to the singer.
Commenting on the issue Chaturvedi had said, “We did not stop the shooting but asked all our members to step out of the shoot. The shooting was held up for a few hours on Thursday 18 October. Also, if the singer’s payment is not cleared on Monday, we will restart the non-cooperation and this time, we will include the channel also.”
According to reports, Kapoor also approached ‘Singer Association’ wherein she vehemently stated that the producers owe her more than Rs 20 mn. Kapoor’s father justified the claim, “The producers did not honour the contract they signed with my daughter for two music albums. She was also to get a certain percentage from the performances. We have been asking the producers to settle the account for a long time now.”
Entering in its new season, SaReGaMaPa 2012 has opened the platform for singing talent from other places in the Indian subcontinent like Dhaka and Pakistan for the first time. Hosted by Javed Ali, the latest edition has also renewed panelists with Bollywood music directors Shankar Mahadevan, Sajid-Wajid and front man of fusion rock band Indian Ocean’s Rahul Ram bearing the judges responsibilities.
