MUMBAI: Iconic British rock n’ roll band ‘The Rolling Stones’ have announced four dates for their live shows, as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.
Their ’50 & Counting: The Rolling Stones Live’ shows will take place in London and New York. The two shows at London will be held at the O2 Arena on 25 and 29 November. The band will then perform at New York’s Prudential Centre, in Newark, near New York on 13 and 15 December.
Announcing the dates on 15 October via a video on YouTube the band said London and New York were “two cities that know how to rock n’ roll.”
“Everybody loves a celebration and London and New York are two good places to do it in,” frontman Mick Jagger said.
The band’s video also showcased an all-new, custom-built set design, with a stage based on the band’s ubiquitous and celebrated tongue and lips logo, which will reach out into the crowd.
This is the first time that the band- Mick Jagger (69), Keith Richards (68), Charlie Watts (71) and Ronnie Wood (65) will perform since their three-night show at the O2 Arena in 2007.
“They (fans) will treat their generations of fans in a must-see, heart-pumping celebration of era-defining tracks such as ‘Gimme Shelter’, ‘Paint It Black’, ‘Jumping Jack Flash’, ‘Tumbling Dice’, ‘It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll’, plus a few surprises and countless other classics from ‘GRRR!,’ the multi-format compilation RS50 album coming out in November marking the Stones’ astonishing five decades at the top,” their recent release said.
