MUMBAI: A galaxy of Bollywood’s top musicians and composers will celebrate the passing of Copyright Amendment Act 2012 by performing a concert ‘The Shukrana show’ on 23 August at the Parliament’s ‘GMC Balayogi Hall’.
The newly passed bill makes it mandatory for music companies and producers to share royalty with singers, lyricists and scriptwriters. Confirming the news to Radioandmusic.com, Ehsaan Noornani said, “We will perform along with other artistes at the Parliament to celebrate the passing of Copyright Bill.”
Arranged by lyricist and MP Javed Akhtar who has been at the forefront of fighting to get the copyright act amended, the show will feature ace artistes like AR Rahman, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia Shankar-Ehsan-Loy, Vishal and Rekha Bhardwaj, Sonu Niigaam and Sunidhi Chauhan. The show will also feature a speech by the Nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar and a poetry recital by Gulzar and Javed Akthar . The event will be hosted by Shabana Azmi.
