MUMBAI: Majja Run patron Radio Mirchi’s RJ Raaj – Played a green crusader dressed in a life size carbon footprint to spread the message of reducing carbon emission in Bengaluru. He won the 1st place at the Kingfisher ‘Run in Costume’ Green Crusader segment
Dressed in an all black robe with a huge life size cut out of a foot all made from recycled biodegradable products like old carton boxes, gunny sack, hand-made recycled paper, twine cord etc…, RJ Raja set out to convey the message of reducing carbon footprint through his participation at the Kingfisher ‘Run in Costume’ Green Crusader segment! He went out to spread the message on how each one of us can take a green oath by reducing the carbon emission in our daily lives by adopting simple practices such as turning the lights, televisions and computers off when not in use, as simple as keeping fridge doors closed, drive less, do the weekly errands in a single trip or pay bills online, walk, bike, ride the bus or carpool etc…He in fact made a special mention to all the Rapunzel’s of the city to go green by switching to shorter hair and their by reduce the amount of water used to wash their long tresses.
Excited about his win, Beat Raja Raaj exclaimed, “It a great high to win the contest for the second time in a row. Last year won the 2nd place at the Sakkath Bengalurean contest, this time round wanted spread the green message by participating at the Kingfisher Green Crusader segment. I have always been an avid follower of green practices in my daily life which was lesson learnt during my college mountaineering club and hence took up the carbon footprint concept. Would like to thank all my friends and colleagues who have helped me conceptualize and bring out this look!! My special thanks to my colleague Prabodh Ballal (Conceptualizer – South, Radio Mirchi), Saraswathi Anand (Marketing Head – Radio Mirchi) and Ranjini (Copy writer at Radio Mirchi) who helped me in designing the costume”
