MUMBAI: After rendering several chartbusters in bollywood, Shekhar Ravjiani of the musical duo Vishal-Shekhar has made his debut in the Marathi music industry with his first single.
The track titled ‘Saazani’ composed and rendered by Ravjiani also features singer Bela Shinde. The single penned by National Award winning director Ravi Jadhav will be released digitally on Hungama next week.
Ravjiani said, “I am extremely fond of Marathi music. ‘Saazani’ is an independent and romantic track. It’s a metaphor for a farmer asking for rain to come. Maharashtra has always been special to me. Not just now, in the past too I have spent a lot of time in the state, especially Nashik. It was just that I was waiting for the right opportunity. It was not that difficult to sing in Marathi.”
The singer intends to do charity work through the earnings of this track. Proceeds from the song’s download, caller tunes and ring tones will go to Ma Niketan, an NGO involved in giving shelter to abandoned children, especially girls.
The singer also appeared on Zee Marathi’s show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ as a celebrity guest and performed his single on the episode, which will telecast on 6 May.
The musical duo will also compose music for their first Marathi film titled ‘Balak-Palak’, directed by Jadhav.
