MUMBAI: Red FM is one of the first stations to get ready for the rains this year.
The station has rolled out an extensive plan to help Mumbaikars deal with the monsoon. From ushering stranded citizens under the Red FM umbrellas on rainy days to free pick up and drops in the Red FM Qualis, to an actual Red FM Boat for localities, Red FM has chalked up a detailed plan.
Listeners can ‘Vote for boat’ on Red FM if their area is threatened by a downpour. The area with the highest number of votes stands to win the Red FM boat, which will be handed over to the civic authority of the area for rescue operations during the monsoon. Red will also be providing life jackets and monsoon survival kits along with the boat.To bring some fun and excitement to the activities, the station plans to put up the Boat at major malls and will do its flagship show, Khopcha with RJs Neeil and Nyssha, from the boat. Lucky listeners will also be given a chance to test ride the boat with the Red FM RJs at an event for the same.

After receiving tremendous response and appreciation for our efforts during the 26 July floods and having experienced the same difficulties year after year as citizens ourselves, we decided to go all out this year through our extensive initiatives during the monsoons. With our activities we hope to highlight the plight of mumbaikars during monsoons and sensitize the authorities towards their needs.”
Big FM as well has taken the initiatory of sheding the moonson blues of mumbaikars. The radio station has tied up with a weather station called Lintex to get live updated weather reports from 22 different locations in and around mumbai. The radio station has also identified 35 BMC lowline areas of mumbai and have appointed volunteers known as ‘Big Mumbaikars’ who will give live traffic and climate updates around the clock.
The station plans to mix pleasure with business by having some weekend special treats for its listeners like a Monsoon Rain Dance with RJ’s and also a show called as ‘Monsoon Musical Evening’ which will mark a total 8 hours of non-stop bollywood music to played live at the Oberoi Mall over that period. Big FM mumbai station head Sudharshan Saha said ” Monsoon is the time for people to indulge in fun and romance, We dont want anyone to be affected by the climate which stops them from enjoying so thats why we pledge to take care of the monsoons so that Mumbaikars can have their share fun and we can see some joyous moments along our streets.”
Fever FM has also launched a public service called ‘Fever 104 Mumbai Monsoon Help Line’ to ease the woes of Mumbaikars who dread the problems that the monsoon brings.
Fever RJs will run a ‘Monsoon Update’ every day on every show, where they will provide the latest info on traffic jams, accidents, diversions, suitable routes, amount of rainfall, flooding or water logging situations, high tides, flight and train delays, power cuts, emergency numbers to call, precautions to take and so on.
Fever RJs are also asking Mumbaikars to call on 40684104 – Fever’s IVRS No. and record their grievances caused due to heavy rains. These would then be forwarded to local authorities such as the municipal corporation, Traffic Police and power companies, etc. and Fever RJs will follow up on their efforts to address the same.
My FM too plans to provide listeners with weather-related information as also information regarding water-logged areas in the city. The station is also airing tips to maintain hygiene during the monsoon.
Radio City, last year had gifted 200 raincoats to the Mumbai Traffic Police, in its effort to help the cops who are out on the roads in the torrential downpours.
With all their plans set, it seems like the stations are doing their part to make a difference in the lives of the people of Mumbai.
