MUMBAI: MTV has named Katy Perry as its â€?Artist of the Year’ 2011.

Accepting her award, Perry said, “I wasn’t really allowed to watch MTV growing up so this feels really validating.”
The singer’s album â€?Teenage Dream’, has produced five No. 1 singles, which is matched only by Michael Jackson and was also named one of Barbara Walter’s Most Fascinating People of 2011.
Adele’s hit â€?Rolling in the Deep’ was awarded the song of the year. Others winners include: Justin Bieber, Drake, Lil Wayne, Beyonc?©, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, The Throne, Adele, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry.
