MUMBAI: RIM has announced new BBM cloud-based music service â€?BBM(TM) Music’ for socially connected blackberry users.
â€?BBM Music’ enables social and viral music discovery by allowing users to build an evolving, community-based music library that is shared amongst their BBM music friends. RIM has also partnered with leading music labels Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI for the service.
Research in Motion president and Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said, ” We have partnered with leading music companies to provide a ‘full track’ music sharing and discovery experience that will provide users with quality music on demand and allow them to connect with friends on a whole new level.”
â€?BBM Music’ service content will be managed with the help of Omnifone’s technology which will facilitate the delivery of full music catalog to â€?BBM Music’ users and comprehend compensation reporting for copyright holders.

The closed beta trial of the music service is available in Canada, US, and the UK. The service will be available in Australia, Columbia, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, UAE.
