MUMBAI: The journey that started with all the grandeur and fervor ended on a heartfelt note. Radio Mantra started Friendship Se Freedom Tak…, a journey to celebrate the spirit of friendship, Rakhi and freedom.
The excursion that began from Taj Mahal, Agra on the morning of 14th August ended with the grand celebrations on 15th of August at the Wagah border. Radio Mantra was the only radio station station to broadcast the programming with the special permission from Border Security Force (BSF) on the Independence Day.
Kanwar Sameer, National Programming Head, Radio Mantra said, We are really overwhelmed to witness such a fantabulous response to our 15 day long activity which started from friendship week and was culminated at the Wagah border on the 64th Independence Day. On behalf on Radio Mantra, I would like to extend my gratitude towards our soldiers and would like to thank BSF for their support….
On their way Team Mantra stopped over at the India Gate, Lal Quila in Delhi, Sukhdev Thapar’s birth place in Panipat, floating restaurant in Sirhind and spoke to Vir Chakra awarded Cdr. P.K Maula and kins of freedom fighter Late Dr. Ranjit Singh to name a few.
One of the most touching moments were when Radio Mantra RJ’s presented soldiers with several messages and above 40,000 thousand rakhi’s that were sent by listeners across stations.
Baldev singh, a BSF soldier that Mantra spoke to said, Like everyone we too have several career options but we who love our motherland so dearly can’t think of anything else but be a part of defense. Its really overwhelming and I feel honored when people send us love all over the country…
Mamta, RJ, Radio Mantra on the border shared, When I tied the rakhi’s on the wrists of the jawans as a token of love that was sent was by our listeners across stations, their eyes reflected the pride they take in serving our motherland. I couldn’t hold my emotions when they expressed their gratitude for all the love filled messages. Having stood there amidst the cheering crowd, I believe it was the highest moment of my life….
Mantra also ran a quiz called Tirangey Ko Salaam… in association with Flag Foundation of India to educate people about the National Flag. Listeners took home goodies bag and interesting prizes.
