MUMBAI: Explosive British band The Prodigy will headline the first Eristoff Invasion festival in India, which promises to bring some of the most popular musicians from India and around the world to Bangalore on Thursday, 13 January and New Delhi on Saturday, 15 January. Pentagram, Midival Punditz and Jalebee Cartel are other popular bands that will perform at the festival, which will also see a DJ set by popular Australian electro rock act Pendulum.
The Prodigy is currently one of the biggest performing artists in the world. They’ve sold over 25 million albums worldwide and have headlined some of the biggest international music festivals. Mega dance tracks including â€?Firestarter’ and â€?Smack My Bitch Up’ come on the back of their latest 2009 album, Invaders Must Die, which went straight to #1 on the UK album charts. Their music has been featured in several major Hollywood films including Charlie’s Angels, The Matrix and most recently Kick-Ass. The British trio of Liam Howlett, Keith Flint and Maxim promise to bring that same energy to India. Says Liam Howlett, ‘We are psyched to be coming to play our music in India. Australian drum and bass rockers Pendulum has been whipping fans into frenzy with an amped-up aural assault of the turntables for the better part of a decade now, and has thrilled crowds at massive festivals like Reading, Glastonbury and Creamfields, with their electronic music. From downtempo dubstep to out-and-out drum and bass, Pendulum’s dance-driven energy is sure to strike a chord with Eristoff Invasion fans.
Eristoff Invasion is a new music festival that will bring the best international, contemporary, high-energy acts to India, acts brimming with attitude and personality. The first edition of the festival will take place on January 13 in Bangalore (at Palace Grounds) and January 15 in New Delhi (at HUDA Gounds). Apart from being headlined by The Prodigy, the festival will also feature performances by some of the most exciting national live acts including Mumbai electro-rock pioneers Pentagram. Vishal Dadlani, frontman of Pentagram, says It’s The Prodigy! What’s not to be excited about. This is the band that redefined electro rock. I’ve seen them live at Glastonbury and Reading and the gig is full of incredible energy and madness.” There are also more acts, International and Indian which are being added to the line-up.
The festival is being organised by Motherswear, Only Much Louder’s festivals division in collaboration with UKNY Music, a leading UK-based music and events company.
