MUMBAI: Indian mobile handset manufacturer Micromax has launched its operations in the United Arab Emirates, Sultanate Of Oman, Kuwait and Qatar through a wholly owned subsidiary.
The subsidiary, Micromax Informatics FZE, will introduce handsets aimed at consumers across all segments with special focus on the youth. The company has tied up with local distributors to ensure wide availability of its mobiles.
Notable features of Micromax’s handsets include a battery life of up to 30 days, motion sensor games and the ability to act as a universal remote control for televisions, air conditioners and others. The price oh handsets would range from Dh129 to Dh599.

This is the fourth international foray for Micromax having launched operations in Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
We will target the youth population of the region with our varied range of products and believe that we will be able to create a new segment with each of our products in the new markets,… added Jain.
To enhance brand visibility in the territory, Micromax aims to undertake a 360-degree branding exercise and focus on activities like store branding in key retails as well as channel marketing. Jumbo Electronics has won the distribution contract for Qatar and Kuwait, the company revealed.
The firm has also filed a draft prospectus with the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to raise funds for setting up of a new handset manufacturing plant and acquisitions.
