MUMBAI: All the curiosity and anxiety finally came to an end on the country’s I-Day when the most versatile singer, Sreeram Chandra was announced the winner after a three-hour long finale of Indian Idol Season Five
After months of speculations and eliminations, the final tussle was between Bhoomi Trivedi from Baroda, Rakesh Maini from Agra and Sreeram Chandra from Hyderabad.
The finale was star struck with appearances made by Kareena Kapoor, Kiron Kher, Shankar Mahadevan and superstar Amitabh Bachchan who played Kaun Banega Crorepati on the show with the contestants

He confessed that his wife Jaya Bachchan was the ardent follower of the show and would not miss a single episode at any cost. His presence on the show was like a dream come true for the top three finalists.
Indian Idol season five, has been compared to its earlier seasons and have been termed the best of them all.
Sreeram was one candidate who was consistent through out earning appreciation from the judges as well as celebrity judges and didn’t enter the danger zone even once. The audience gave him a roaring response by pouring thousands of votes.
Opportunities had started knocking his door since long, even before he won the crown. Sreeram has already lent his voice to several Telegu movies as a playback singer and has also recorded a song with Shreya Goshal, music of which is composed by the duo Salim-Sulaiman
Sreeram got Rs 50 lakh cash prize, a car, a motorbike, a one year contract with Sony music and a chance to lend his voice to one of the forthcoming Yashraj Films.
The winners of the previous seasons of Indian Idol were Abhijeet Sawant, Sandeep Acharya, Prashant Tamang and Sourabhee Debbarma.
Bhoomi’s fans need not be disappointed as she is now the Radio Mirchi’s new RJ. 21-year old, Bhoomi Trivedi had auditioned for Radio Jockey when she was amongst top 5 contestants and she outsmarted Shivam Pathak, Rakesh Maini, Sreeram Chandra and Swaroop Khan on the basis of listeners’ votes.
This announcement was made by RJ Sangita from Mirchi who graced the show by her presence at the Filmistan Studios where the finale was held.
