MUMBAI: Being a child prodigy isn’t always easy. The early fame also brings a lot of side effects, but if there is focus one can go places. The God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar was a young star, but it was his grounded and focused attitude that made him one of the best cricketers in the world. Singer-composer Vishal Mishra is walking on a similar path.
Music made way into young Vishal’s heart at the age of three. It was his first stage performance on the then famous track ‘Sardi Khasi Na Malaria Hua’ from ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’ that changed his life forever. He knew that music was there to stay and so did his family. His first musical instrument was an electronic guitar gifted to him by his sister at the age of 10. Today Vishal can play 15 musical instruments.
The singer-composer soon after participated in a singing reality show, ‘Bharat Ki Shaan’ and went to win it. However, studies were never put on the back burner he went on to graduate in law.

While juggling between academics and music, Vishal also started catching fancy for English poetries and lyrics writing. Gradually, it became a routine and it’s something that he still continues to do.
Today, Vishal is a well-known regional singer-composer and he has songs in Bollywood films like ‘Munna Michael’, ‘Aapke Kamre Main Koi Rehta Hai’, ‘Karib Karib Single’ and many others. “It was ‘Bharat Ki Shaan’ that got me where I am. Lalit Sir (one-half of the Jatin-Lalit duo) who was one of the judges of the show liked my singing on the show and guided me through the industry soon after. He taught me integrities of what music-making is all about and how I could convert my raw talent into something that can be valued,” said Vishal.
Lalit also gave him a break in his film ‘Shorgul’ where he sang ‘Sham o Seher’. Later, impressed by his work and talent, Prabhu Deva offered him his film ‘Abhinetri’, a Telugu film.
Since then the singer-composer hasn’t had a single free day. He recently composed 14 songs for Marathi film, Friendship Unlimited (FU). “Working for FU was really tough. I came to saturation point many at times while composing for the film. So, the project took me a while, but I gave best. Overall it was a fun-loving experience. I had a music crew of 250 people who worked with me on FU,” stated Mishra.
Furthermore, the talented musician who has managed to make many of his music idols sing to his tunes — that includes Sonu Nigam and Sukhwinder Singh — now wishes to watch his favourite celebs lip-sync to them. “I recently had an opportunity to record a song with Salman Khan and I wish to compose a track for Ranbir Kapoor,” signed off Mishra.
