MUMBAI: Reliance Media World’s radio arm 92.7 BIG FM Surat has been known to take up issues which affect our day to day lives and not just talk about it rather try and find relevant solutions too. One such issue which is very close to the hearts of all Suratis, irrespective of class and creed, is the cleanliness of our life line river TAPI. In the Upanishads and Puranas, Tapi is refered to as Surya Putri Tapi which when translated means the Daughter of Lord Surya (Sun). 92.7 BIG FM has joined hands with Surat Municipal Corporation to design a unique campaign SAVE SURYA PUTRI TAPI…. The campaign kicks off on the 6th May and will continue till the 26th May.
The focus of this 20 day long event is to create awareness. Be it Diwali, Navratri or the 10 Day long Ganesh Festival, it’s a usual practice that all the perishable materials like flowers, leaves, grains etc need to be immersed in the river TAPI. This practice in itself is not advisable, however putting all these material in a poly ethene bag and throwing that away in the TAPI rives is hazardous. One just needs to see Umra Owara, Ashwinikumar Owara,Jhangirpura Owara and Navdi Owara, to believe it. 92.7 BIG FM RJs and SMC shall be undertaking a cleanliness drive. They wish to make an appeal as well, kindly deposit all the puja material in a Kalash shaped dustbin installed and placed at various sites on the banks of river TAPI and the bridges. This is one more opportunity for all the suratis to be more responsible and reinforce the fact, we love surat.
