MUMBAI: Mumbai based progressive house and electro music producer SHAAN is finishing this year with a high note. The 21-year old DJ/producer will be one of the headlining acts at Sunburn 10 and will be playing at Enchanted Valley Carnival (EVC) this year. SHAAN also recently collaborated with Tom Swoon and Robert Falcon for his upcoming single.
Born Shaan Singh, the DJ/producer started his career at the age of 15 and debuted at Asia’s premier music festival – Sunburn Goa 2010. “I have collaborated with Tom Swoon and Robert Falcon a while ago, and also it was an impromptu one. We have been jamming together since a long time now. The name of the song is ‘Mirage’ and it will be released on next Monday on 12 December 2016,” says SHAAN.
Known for his Progressive house, electro house tunes, 23-year old Polish DJ Tom Swoon will also debut at Sunburn 10 this year and will be creating his EDM waves. In 2015, he debuted in the DJ Mag’s 2015 Top 100 DJs voting poll as No. 46.

“There will be a music video too. We will shoot the video when Tom and Robert are in India next. The song is a happy pop and rap based number that is unusual from the rest. The song will be released on a Dutch record label Armada Music,” added SHAAN.
Talking about the artistic course of action he said, it just comes and when the melody is there, he can sense it and goes with the flow. In addition, the interesting fact about SHAAN is, he doesn’t listen to current EDM music, and he is a devoted fan of artists and bands like Bryan Adams, Passenger and Coldplay.
Of all the places he has played, when it comes to preferred venues, he shared that Tomorrowland and Goa have been his favourites. “I love Zouk, which is one of the oldest and most popular nightclubs in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Thay have brilliant sound along with 2000 capacity and massive sounds.”
While talking about the current EDM scene in India in comparison to other countries, SHAAN believes that there is a lot more scope as the outlook about electronic dance music has been changing and likely to explode.
“There are so many talents covertly who need to pull out from the dark. Indian crowds are the most energetic as they only come for the music and they don’t filter energy, which I love the most. As Bollywood music takes the biggest portion of the pie, one just has to give it sometime when it is about breaking the genre or doing something diverse. For me, I am not going to play Bollywood music no matter what. Even if I am requested, I would never play and stick to my stance,” he says firmly.
