MUMBAI: The launch of new radio stations may not have caused major disruptions since their arrivals, however, to some critics’ surprise, these channels have managed to not only sustain but improve their ratings. Radio Nasha’s shares ratings increased from 9.9 per cent to 10.4 per cent in Delhi, however, could not repeat the same in Mumbai, as the ratings fell to 7 per cent. The silver lining for Nasha Mumbai would be the growth in T.S.L. ratings. The scenario was not any different for REDTRO Mumbai that faced a 0.4 per cent loss in shares, but the T.S.L. rose to 3.25. In Bengaluru, Radio Mirchi 95 showed signs of improvement as the station ended the Week 36 with 0.8 per cent shares and T.S.L. of 4.56.
The big guns, on the other hand, have shown no signs of slowing down. Big FM Mumbai’s shares escalated to 15.8 per cent and T.S.L. of 5.21. Fever FM and Radio City followed the suit with 0.2 per cent growth in shares while retaining last week’s positions at second and third respectively. Bengaluru’s leading station Fever FM lost 0.1 per cent in shares, but firmly held to its position, as closest competitor Radio Mirchi dropped 0.4 per cent in shares too. In Delhi, every following station did better than previous week, except Oye! FM.
Similar to Delhi, Kolkata witnessed an underperforming leader that managed to retain the top spot in the form of Radio Mirchi that ended the week 20.4 per cent shares and T.S.L. of 4.35. Big FM’s fall in shares helped Mirchi maintain a safe gap, as the second positioned station ended the week with 15.9 per cent (compared to 16.4 per cent in last week).
