MUMBAI: Among the nation’s best music festivals, Sunburn will focus to build on its tradition with the announcement that the mega-event will return for its tenth edition from 27 December to 30 December.
The four days electronic music festival faces uncertainty with regards to its venue since Goa’s state government issued a strong statement declaring that the two rival festivals – Sunburn and Supersonic – will have to move their base from the beaches of Goa. The festivals can find space on their traditional venues only if the dates are shifted to before 15 December or after 15 January.
However, the latest development via Sunburn’s organising company Percept gave a clear indication that Sunburn does not want to compromise on the identity created through the dates (end of December) for the past nine years.

The tenth year, surely extremely vital for Sunburn, could very well find a new home for Sunburn if the Goan authorities remain adamant with the initial decision and disallow the music festival to be held on the beach of Vagator.
Sources from the electronic music industry claim the city of Lavasa can become Sunburn’s next home. Lavasa township has the model and the facilities to deal with a large turnout that Sunburn would expect on its tenth edition. However, Sunburn would have to compromise on the beaches if the organisers do not arrive on a positive conclusion through the talks.
