MUMBAI: Gradually, Hip Hop has been generating awareness, due for too long, throughout the country. The current ‘scene’ suggests 2016 could be a start of something encouraging for the genre. The scene would run only far without potential talents vouching for it, and Naezy is keen to ensure that does not happen. The Mumbai-based rapper released a new single titled ‘Haq Hai’ on 8 May 2016 on YouTube.
For the past five years, the rapper has been writing his own rags-to-riches story and although the struggle to create an identity has been a long one for the 23-year-old, his journey may have just begun. Produced by Jungli Sher and Mere Gully Mein producer Sez, the single ‘Haq Hai’ portrays the rapper’s disappointment and rage against the socio-political situation of the country. The rapper explores the consequences and the fallout of the government’s attempt at curbing dissidents and free speech in the country.

‘Haq Hai’, through its lyrics, speaks about issues beyond the rapper’s perspective and manages to tap into the larger picture. The maturity and sophistication in the lyrics overshadow the musical elements
(which Naezy does not experiment with a lot in ‘Haq Hai’).
Naezy achieves the bigger task of expressing his thoughts through clinical songwriting – an attribute that begged for some importance from the “rappers” for over a decade.
