MUMBAI: ‘Jiya Re’ crooner Neeti Mohan has rendered her vocals for the song ‘Tumhe Apna Banane Ka’ from the film ‘Hate Story 3’, which she has co sung with Armaan Malik. The track, originally from the Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt starrer ‘Sadak’, is a remake and has lyrics by Rashmi Virag with Malik’s brother- Amaal composing the music.
“I had sung the song quite a while ago and it was a very popular track in the 1990s. I really like the way Amaal has composed the song. For any composer, making a new melody is easy, but remaking an older song is difficult, primarily because the newer version needs to be better than the previous one,” said Mohan.
This is not the first time that Mohan has sung an older melody. Back in 2013, she lent her voice to the track ‘Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta’ from the film ‘Boss’. The track was co sung by Arijit Singh and music was re-arranged by Chirantan Bhatt, while Manoj Yadav penned the lyrics.

If given the choice, Mohan said that there are a number of tracks that she would want to remake but ‘Bahon Mein Chale Aao’ from the film ‘Anamika’ would be her first pick. “If I reinterpret the track, I would have just a piano and my vocals. I think this will beautify the song even more,” she added.
Mohan, who performs a lot of live shows, said that both, recording and live, give her equal joy. “For a long time I had been a stage performer until I got ‘Jiya Re’. So now, when I record a new song, it keeps me up at night, and when I am performing live, the energy of the concert makes me sleepless. So I am happy with both,” she explained.
Currently, apart from her gigs, the ‘Tune Mari Entriyaan’ singer is also working on a new single which will be releasing soon. However, she has not put a timeframe on the release as she will be tied up with live performances. Apart from ‘Hate Story 3’ Mohan has also sung for a host of other Bollywood films like ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, ‘Shaandaar’ and ‘Yaara Silly Silly’.
