MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment launched the music of its first kids` 3D CGI animation film, Bal Ganesh, in Mumbai on Wednesday.
The music for the film has been composed by Shamir Tandon and the songs have been sung by Asha Bhosale, Usha Mangeshkar, Shankar Mahadevan, Kailash Kher, Sudesh Bhonsle and Siddhant Bhonsle (Sudesh Bhonsle`s son).
Some of participants of the Zee`s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge like Amaanat, Aneek, Nirupama, Junaid, Mauli, Sumedha and the Zee Lil Champs – Sanchita, Sameer, Pavni along with Raj Pandit have also lent their voice to songs in the movie.
The film has a total of seven numbers, with two of the Mangeshkar sisters – Asha and Usha – coming together to sing after three decades, for Bal Ganesh.
Says Shemaroo director Smita Maroo, “Music playes an important role in the promotion of the movie and at the moment, we are looking at promoting the music through various means including media synergies with Sa Re Ga Ma on Zee and several other innovations.”
“We are looking at a 360 degree marketing approach including merchandising, on ground events, and online where we have launched the Bal Ganesh website for promotion. At the same time, we have rolled out several contests which are running on a few leading online portals.”
Music director Shamir Tandon shared, “In Bal Ganesh, we have made a different amalgamation of various genres of music. It was simply because a movie on Lord Ganesh and that too in an animated version, we had to create something with which every youth and kid could relate to.”
Says RJ Lavanya, who has also lent her voice for one of the songs in the film, “What better way than animation to tell kids stories about our culture and mythology. It is fun, involving and interesting. Singing for a movie was a completely newexperience for me because I am a RJ, but singing has always been my hobby, which I practise even in my shows on radio.”
