Hello FM’s recently appointed cluster head for RoT (Rest of Tamil Nadu) V Balaji might just be an ideal icon for youngsters wanting to make it big in the radio world.
From an RJ, the young radio professional has been chosen to head a clutch of radio stations. Balaji will be responsible for monitoring of talent and content across the six stations.
His earlier stint includes being a RJ on Chennai Big FM 92.7 FM where he used to host the evening drive time show, â€?Overtake’ with RJ Bossky. Balaji can also be caught on several TV shows like Jaya TV’s kids’ show â€?Little masters’, and a weekly musical show, â€?Raagamalika’, which has completed 275 episodes. He also recently made his debut on the big screen with UTV ‘Poi Solla Porom’ directed by Kireedom Vijay.

I believe one good work leads to another. I have always recognised talent and recommended good work to officials concerned, so I guess this time somebody recognised a latent talent in me!
I was thrilled when I came to know that my name was proposed as the cluster head of Hello FM. It is a dream come true as I am just in my early 30s and I believe this is a great responsibility.
Everyone has flaws but then, I would like to concentrate on people’s strengths and motivate them at the right time. Hello FM is a station which every Tamilian prefers and we could make it the No.1 station in six months.
I am actually a finance student, but I took a break because of my passion for radio Radio Mirchi was auditioning for RJs and I got through among the 1000 applicants. I was an RJ on Chennai’s Radio Mirchi for more than four years when I got an offer from Big FM.
Competition is everywhere and I would work towards improving any radio brand I am associated with. At the end, I belong to radio, not to any radio brand. I am very passionate about radio and radio made me whatever I am today.
I believe RJs have the charisma to regain their audiences within a week. But I have no plans to host any show on Hello FM at the moment. I would do that if the management wants me to. It would be great to again go on air and interact with my listeners.
I strongly believe in the thought – â€?A real professional is somebody who has grown in the profession and then contributed to the betterment of the profession’ Guess that is how my career is shaping up, I had been an RJ and now at an executive level I want to make this medium sound better.
